What is Savannahsoul?
'Savannah-soul' is generically an Afro-beat driven cross-genre fusion electronic music, in the same line as most other similar
Afrocentric music genres that are built up or formatted predominantly if not solely on contemporary electronic music making
instruments - MIDI Synthesizer keyboards as opposed to acoustic guitars. Notable examples of this is the so-called 'world'
music Zouk, Kizomba or even Jamaican Dancehall.
Genre development and objectives
In the early 2000's, while working as a freelancer producer at TRAXBOX AMSPUG RECORDS, the experimental fusion of electronic
equipment with indigenous flavors for making music took a particular direction - in the specific setting of East Africa Uganda-
with the decision to deliberately conserve the Afro-beat musical dynamics while adopting more modern touches and nuances to
the music. This essentially actually reflected the upscaling of local culture and society via increasing exposure to more
westernised and globalised influence, whether in speech (multi-lingual0 or in fashion. However even then, the change to modern
styles was never at the loss of the local soul: in a nutshell "savannah soul" is the natural evolution of the music
of Anglo-francophonic Eastern Africa (representing the savannah) to compliment the new tastes and way of life (ie the soul)
that this region has come to embrace essentially as our own..
